server monitor with email alerts?
is there such a program or script , which monitors each game server you are running on your boxes and if any of them go down it emails say down@yourcompany.com for instance , im using linux servers so it possibly pings each server every 5 mins or 15 or whatever, anybody know of any program/tool/script what does the job?
apart from a control panel of course.
thanks
woody

http://www.network-eagle.com for monitoring and email alerts which I have also integrated with http://autopage.info/ for SMS alerting.
Or you could just get a panel

Good lord, if you're a linux head, at least consider one of the open source options like Nagios or JFFNMS before you splurge cash on something like NE unnecessarily.

Phil when i bought NE it certainly was nowhere near the £300 it is now, i was quite shocked looking at the new pricing.

I hadn't even looked at the pricing, but things like that seem to have a habit of being overpriced for what they are.
I certainly couldn't see anything that would make me buy it over using something like Nagios (which I can write plugins for and monitor practically anything I like - such as my shoutcast server monitor plugin). People bitch about it being awkward to configure but I don't see what all the fuss is about

Me neither, we use Nagios and are more than happy with it.
It's certainly very flexible, and we only maintain one main config file which makes it fairly easy to manage too.
Regards,

Alertra are way too expensive (seriously) and from what I've seen generate their fair share of false positives despite their fancy multi-location testing.
Put Nagios (or a nagios sensor) on an off-net box and plug something like Kewlio's SMS service (relatively easy to do by modifying the 'pager' notify method in nagios) in if you want SMS alerts from monitoring.
