Smile Other windows webhosting control panels?

Hey everyone,

Recently been trying out Plesk and having a few reoccuring problems with it, such as not being able to delete clients or add mail accounts - despite after several reinstalls. Also they refuse to give me the license unless I use a credit card which is just inconvenient seeing as at the start they let me pay via PayPal!

So now I'm looking for a new control panel with virtually the same features, and the same eye candy - I took a look at Helm and wasn't to impressed..

Any ideas / recommendations / or user who are using Helm ?

Cheers
Ryan

Helm is quite solid, but it does have its usability issues such as multi-level clicking. As far as I'm aware, the next version of Helm (4) will address the usability problems so it looks quite promising. I've used Helm for about 4 years now and compared to other windows control panels it's the best in my opinion.

cPanel are developing a windows version of their control panel, and I'm really looking forward to it.

I didn't really like the look or feel to Helm that much, I guess I could give it another go..

What features do you like most, you and your customers?

Regards
Ryan

I like the layout and style of plesk, but as we have Helm.. I think its probably the best Windows control panel. You can always add theme packs on to make it look different

Helm's billing system is not the best there is, but it works and for most thats good enough.

I've always felt that Helm does not really give you much for the relatively high cost, compared with CPanel on Linux, for example, which gives you a complete hosting environment with lots of functionality.

This, and the desire to have total flexibility, is why we've preferred to set up and manage our Windows accounts manually: with a few home-grown utilities to help it's very straightforward.

Hmm, Helm seems to be the option..

How ever I have got a months license with Plesk and would like to exert it to its max potential - problem is Plesk isn't recognising domains and keeps saying its the default page.

Any one experienced with Plesk could give me a hand ?

Cheers
Ryan

We use Helm and have been very happy. There are a few quirks and missing features that would be nice, but it's pricing and general flexi bility in terms of integration with software is a winner.

If you bought Plesk directly you get 30-days free support for Plesk when you purchase it, or if you bought via a reseller they should be able to support you. It sounds like you've hit some bugs which SWsoft should be able to sort out for you as they've probably seen them before (and probably have hotfixes available).
