Hi,
I recently had a good look through the available choices of hosting control panel software for a server to serve websites for a closed community of people. Most packages are well featured and seem typically stable but all seemed to lack various features I required.
I should list these features but it's no hugely relevant.
I've written web based control panels for fairly complicated email systems before, concentrating on spam/virus quarantine control and archiving, etc, kinda like the Messagelabs/Blackspider offerings.
This leads me into the thought of developing a modular hosting control panel geared towards multiple users with potentially multiple sites across potentially several servers. I have no need for reseller support but designed properly this could be done as a plugin.
So, 'big deal' you say, 'so what, do it then, why are you telling us?'
Well why keep it to myself, if the panels out there lack what I want then they may lack what others need aswell, so I fancy releasing it for free (perhaps even GNU [ish])
In conclusion I'd be interested in hearing what features of such a panel you'd ideally like to see. I note it wouldn't really be geared towards total system admin as this is a massive undertaking and panels that fit this bill do seem to work well.
Just to note, the closest I got to what I want was VHCS, but it lacks several things and is a touch buggy (although credit to them it is free and it is very good)
